I have been filming get ready with me on Instagram stories for the longest and rarely do I follow up on here so this post is very over due. This week I was asked to film a drug store makeup look. I went to Walmart and spent a long time looking at all the products, its been a minute since I have shopped the beauty isles of a drug store… I will be honest, the most frustrating thing about shopping in the drug store is the lack of customized palettes available. I seriously can not believe that I was not able to find ONE contour palette. So I guess if you are going to invest in 1 thing from Sephora, it would be a good contour palette like THIS ONE from PUR Cosmetics or THIS ONE from SMASHBOX. These 2 are legti my favs. Although I have been talking about the Kat Von D contour palette for a long time. I think it might be appropriate for me to do a review on them, what do you think!? (tell me in the comments please)
So back to the topic of the drug store makeup… I didn’t even look at brands, when I was shopping. I looked at the product name, some of the claims the packaging made etc. I did not use any of these products prior to filming so I really just gave my honest feedback while filming.
I started with the physicians formula FINISHING SPRAY. That is not a typo, I STARTED with this finishing spray because I wanted the base to have the illumination that I like in my It Cosmetics illuminating CC cream. After I spritzed the illuminating spray on my face I painted on the Neutrogena protect and tint in medium tan. I really really like this cc cream. It is build-able and very similar to it cosmetics. (It is probably just made with some pretty low grade ingredients. I didn’t check to compare…
After putting on my foundation I used the FIT ME finishing powder to do a light contour. Perfect for a day look, running errands with the kids. I used the color porcelain to brighten up the skin under my eyes and above my check bones. Then I used the color Toffee to contour my cheek bones and my nose.
For a bit more of a bronzed blush I used Milani number 02. I love love love this! I focus the color on the apples of my cheeks and then draw the color up my cheek bone.
The highlight cream that I found is the “moonlight glam” GLOW ON by Neutrogena. For my lip I used the physicians formula butter in soaking in the sun. I was not able to find a web link for this. Not sure why.
The city mini eye palette was the closest to my urban decay eye pallette. I really love the eye shadow, today I used the beige, gold and dark brown. You will have to watch my video to see how. My eye liner was a slim line by Loreal. If I was better at eyeliner it would have come out so good, the pen is nice and sturdy, and goes on quick and smooth. I like this better than the benefit roller liner I was using. My eyelashes got a generous coating (4-5X) in the loreal feline noir mascara… It kept my lashes seperated and worked good, but I would prefer a formula that did not need as many coats. The tip I shared on stories was to let each coat dry before applying another one. If you don’t do that, try it and let me know what you think. Game changer right! Ive started keeping mascara in my handbag and applying it all day lol Now that I dont have lash extensions my lashes just look so lame on their own.
After that I finished everything with the setting spray. That’s it start to finish. If you were interested in some of the tools or hair care products that I shared during today’s story, I will link them here!
Check back soon I am working on a post about my Hairdreams Hair Extensions and a how I curl my hair blog plost!
